I made these oaty biscuits some time ago - see
here. This time I used standard rolled oats rather than the larger oats. However the recipe actually called for oatmeal, so next time I might try whizzing the oats first, so the texture would be different again.
In any case they turned out well and no doubt won't last long in the cookie jar!
I was just reading the recipe you gave a few months ago for these biscuits and wondered if you had thought of rolling the dough into a log to chill it and then just slicing the biscuits across the log. I have seen lots of American cookie recipes use this technique. It would be much easier to transfer ti to the fridge and take up much less room too. I'm going to try it later as I fancy making these biscuits. I believe you can also freeze the dough at this point.

These are so good, I just made them this afternoon as I left it too late to get wholemeal flour yesterday (we still have half day closing in the town where I live). I blitzed the oats in the liquidiser as I don't have a food processor, so I had to keep shaking it. I also used the sliced log technique which worked very well although your biscuits do look nicer. I wonder if a wet knife might produce a better cut surface? Well, they aren't going to last long enough to worry about how they look as I have eaten half of them already. I also forgot to put the baking powder in. I might add some ginger next time and a bit less sugar for my taste. Thanks for the recipe.
