There seems to be a multitude of answers on the net. But here they are doing their thing and it's cloudy and a chill in the air, maybe a light shower approaching!
Hi Liz Yes funny things aren't they. These South Devons are really nice natured cows very easy to shift around from paddock to paddock, no dramas which is great for us novices!
Hi Pilgrimscottage Possibly. There are all sorts of explanations (guesses!) on the net - it's quite interesting!
I just came to your blog via Paola's. I had no idea cows sit down when the rain is coming. BUT it does explain why we saw it so much in the UK and especially Scotland. I'd never seen such a thing before and thought it was just because the Summer days were long and the food plentiful. I look forward to exploring your blog some more.
My three seem to have a set time each day they go and sit in their huddle. Cows will be cows.LOL
ReplyDeleteCould it be for the same reason we hunch over when in the rain or cold - maybe?
