Early Red peaches |
We are now enjoying lots of lovely fresh juicy peaches from our 'Early Red' trees. So far (am I tempting fate by saying this...?!) the possums have not found the trees, but we have had some windy weather which has blown a few fruit off.
So I am busy in the kitchen with making peach pies, smoothies, eating them fresh as is, and sliced on my morning porridge. I've made peach and raspberry popsicles, and will probably freeze some sliced peaches too. If I get enough time I will bottle some too.

Looking forward to the 'Black Boy' peaches later on :-)
Yum, yum, yum!! Peach cobbler for Christmas (that's if there are any left by then!) They look so pretty against the green too.
ReplyDeleteHow delicious we hope to grow some heirloom fruit wen we move back to NZ and plant our orchard.
ReplyDeleteHi Ms Lottie
ReplyDeleteWell looks as though this variety have just about finished, but we do have other peach trees in the wings!
Hi Fiona, thanks for your comment. Yes it's very satisfying to pick your own fresh fruit. Good luck. Bridget
Hi Park Sangchin
ReplyDeleteThanks but I won't take up your offer for Everyrecipe.
Oh, my....yum. I'd say that peach tree definitely deserves the thumbs up! I always thought peaches didn't grow this far north, but we found a peach tree two years ago in a near-by community while pressing apple cider. Now that I know its possible I kind of want a peach tree!
ReplyDeleteWe are getting loads of really small but exceptionally tasty ones now from another of our trees. Would definitely recommend planting one if you can find a suitable variety for your area :-)
