Just sharing a couple of photos of a bumble bee. It is feeding on the flower of our native Hibiscus, which grows like a weed and forms a ground cover out the front here - it seems to love the stone we had put down when our driveway was formed. As you can see the bee is totally covered in dark orange pollen!
Here is the flower without the bee on it:
Spectacular. I always get a kick out of seeing that. Those happy pollen-clad bees!
ReplyDeleteYes and this year I'm happy because we've had a lot more bees around - both bumble and honey. The last 2 Summers we had huge numbers of wasps which was awful (for us and the bees!).
ReplyDeleteHaha that bee must be loving it! I see you've been busy in the kitchen, it's that time of year isn't it! I put on my third batch of tomatoes in the dehydrator to semi-dry then freeze, made a batch of tomato relish, and chopped up several zucchinis, capsicums and ears of corn to freeze. So much work to do... but this is why I grow it! (I wish my peach tree was as prolific as yours though!)
ReplyDeleteHi Ruth, yes sure is a busy time with produce alright! Bottling like crazy here. Worth it though :-)
