We've got rain and strong winds again, severe northeasterlies expected to get worse later today. Our new shed is holding up well and has no leaks which is good. I went out earlier and saw to the chickens, fed the chicks and turned their cages round so they aren't facing the wind, I guess they'll all be inside by now. We're not getting any eggs at all at the moment which is a nuisance as I don't like buying them at the shops any more. One of the hens is broody, and another is moulting. Not sure why the others are off the lay.
Right, off to make some tortillas for dinner.

Yes the winds are well up. Chickens in Autumn just before the moult often do go off the lay. Also check their weight and appetite. If any aren't eating it is most likely worms. You could try garlic powder as an alternative to using Aviderm it's very good and does work. Roosters sometimes stop hens laying as well. Thanks for your input on the chicken post too. I'll update it tomorrow with your suggestions as well. Jennifer will really appreciate it. Like you I would rather get my eggs off the farm here. I don't like Battery farms because I used to work on one collecting the eggs. Such a depressing place to be in a battery hen shed because of the low light conditions. Caught with reading your wonderful recipies too yum!

Thanks for your comments. Yes I put garlic in their drinking water. I don't think it's worms I think it's just that time of year. The Indian Games aren't the greatest layers, more a meat bird. Thanks for adding the breeds to your chicken post.
Hope you didn't have too much damage from the storm.
