Equinox gales

Dead chicken house!

Well this was the result of a severe hammering from the strong winds we've had over the last few days. Yesterday the chicken house copped it and had flipped upside down. Amazingly the 4 eggs the hens had laid earlier were still intact. And the hens were all OK, no casualties! The hen house has subsequently been re-erected and is now hopefully more secure.
Thankfully we've suffered no other damage on the property, apart from a few things blowing about.
Today is the actual Spring Equinox and also the full moon, so I'm hoping the windy weather will settle down soon - although I read that this may take about 4-6 weeks!

oh no! Your poor wee chook house. Really good that none of them were hurt, though. The wind's been shocking hasn't it. I can hear it blowing a gale down our chimney. Living in an old villa isn't the warmest just now - suffice to say our sash windows don't keep the wind out all that well!!

Yes, I'm over the wind too, it really is hard work doing anything outside!
Let's hope it eases up soon.

Lucky chooks! I'm over the wind too, although just now in the evening it seems to have settled. I won't get up my hopes though because it did this last night too and then blew again today. Sigh. Still, I got lots of baking done today instead :)

Thank God you are all ok.(including your chooks) Looks like they will get a new house sometime.

Glad the hens made it! It's been just awful with the rain and wind in Stratford, too. Spring, hrumph!

The wind seems to be easing a little now (dare I say it!).

Yes it does mean an opportunity to do more baking!

Best wishes

The winds have been annoying here too. The only good thing is that they are nor' westers, so at least the temperatures are warm!
