This is what greeted us yesterday morning!

This was the sight that greeted us yesterday morning, loads of woolly sheep off down the road to be shorn. When we got out onto the road they were all massed up ahead of us, and up above was a big cloud of steam that was generated from their fleece! It looked quite spectacular against the morning sun and fog.

I'm confused - aren't you coming into Winter? We are waiting to shear our sheep here and we are coming into Summer.

Hi Rosie
Yes it's nearly our winter. Apparently the farmers shear their sheep now to avoid the wool going brittle, or so I've heard.

Hi Ms Lottie
Yes indeed, the hot water bottles are getting a good workout at the moment!

Beautiful photograph of the sheep steam!

It must be a relief any time of year to get rid of a heavy fleece like that! I would be steaming if I had to wear it!

Awwww. One of my favorite NZ memories... Sheep in the hills. An abundance of sheep.
