A photo of the Shavers

I forgot to post a pic of the new hens...!

Here they are:
We now have x4 Shavers, x2 Araucanas, and we also kept the Indian Game rooster and x1 purebred hen (not sure what to do with these as yet!).

They are also very placid which makes a nice change from our other chickens. The chook run is much quieter now!

I like shavers. People can get a bit precious about heritage breeds but shavers are a great utility bird. But I do like having my pen full of colours and shapes too!

Yes I think I may have been a bit like that in the past, overlooking the positive points of commercial breeds. However I'm still going to keep my Araucana hens for a bit of interest, the blue/green eggs are a novelty!
