A good sized cauliflower

Picked a decent sized cauliflower out the garden yesterday. The green colour makes a nice change to the white of 'normal' cauliflowers you get in the shops. In addition, after I cooked it the colour remained which is a benefit. I made a nice cauliflower cheese for last nights dinner (sorry no photo we ate it straight away!) with some home made bread I'd taken out of the freezer. Delicious.

That is a good sized cauliflower. That sounded nice with the cheese sauce. Can't hold a camera and eat at the same time for sure. Lovely day today. Great for gardening!!!!

Few things to beat cauliflower cheese made with a really fresh cauli ... not surprised you didn't take a photo ;) I've never grown cauli, and would welcome some tips, as you're obviously an expert

Hi Liz, I always add a bit of mustard (whole grain if I have it) to my cheese sauce, it just adds a bit of ooomph to it!

Hi Joanna Tips for growing, prepare the bed first, we used sheep manure. The ground was also mulched well as we get very drying winds and hot sun. This is the first successful cauli I've grown actually :-)

I'll have to try the mustard next time I make cheese sauce.
